Description

The Angel of the North is now a familiar site in the North East of England.

It was a controversial addition to the North East landscape originally, but i think it is safe to say most people have grown to love it.

It was designed by the world famous Anthony Gormley. Work was started in 1994 and finally completed 4 years later in February 1998.

If anyone wonders why its not illuminated for all to see at night, then you need look no further than the artist himself who wished it to remain un-lit.
